PA State Representative Richard Grucela Visits LifePath Day Programs

Pennsylvania State Representative Richard Grucela (D – Northampton County) visited with LifePath staff and day program consumers at the organization’s headquarters in Bethlehem August 26, 2008. Grucela enjoyed an opportunity to learn about LifePath’s vast array of programs and services for individuals with developmental disabilities, and hear firsthand from staff and constituents about the funding crisis the mental health and mental retardation field is facing in this state.

Hon. Grucela and LifePath Executive Director/CEO, Paul Coleman discuss the contract work being performed in LifePath’s adult training facility.

Hon. Grucela enjoys a morning workout with Dona Obal from the Bethlehem YMCA and LifePath’s senior adult day program.

LifePath Begins Airing New TV Commercial in Valley

On July 23rd and 24th, 2008, LifePath Public Relations and Development Coordinator, Ann Marie Surovy and the crew from Icarus Communications made a whirlwind tour of many LifePath programs capturing footage for the organization’s new television commercial. The commercial entitled “A New Direction” began airing Friday, August 8th on CNBC, USA and MSNBC on RCN and Service Electric cable TV as part of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. Beginning September 1st, the commercial will air on AMC, CNN, Family, Fox News, The History Channel, VH-1, TLC and TNT. Over four hours of footage was certainly difficult to edit down to just 30 seconds! Thanks to all of the LifePath staff and consumers whose cooperation helped make this commercial possible.

The “Craft Ladies” were organized in 1986 by a group of volunteers who were interested in crafting as well as giving back to the community. Since the group formed over 20 years ago, the Craft Ladies have donated more than $100,000 to LifePath. Their gifts have been used to purchase a variety of necessary items including a van, vacuum, dishwasher, emergency vehicle kits, nurses’ equipment, a cardiac defibrillator, interior design services, macadam, and much more. The ladies received the Pennridge Chamber of Commerce Service Award in 2000 in recognition of their contributions to LifePath.

It's a fiesta at LifePath's Lehigh adult day program!

Although Cinco de Mayo may be a distant memory, the calendar didn’t stop some of LifePath’s Lehigh adult day program staff and consumers from celebrating summer fiesta style July 18, 2008. Staff did a beautiful job of decorating the room with balloons, streamers and of course, a pinata. Music resonated through the hallways of LifePath as consumers and staff danced to favorites from “La Bamba” and “Tequila” to recent music by artists like Marc Anthony. Olé!
