John Kruk Entertains 600 at Annual Thanksgiving Luncheon

Former Philadelphia Phillies’ All-Star and ESPN commentator, John Kruk entertained almost 600 guests at the 11th Annual LifePath and PICPA (Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants) Thanksgiving Benefit and Awards Luncheon Wednesday, November 26, 2008. The event’s proceeds go directly toward enhancing LifePath’s programs and services for individuals with developmental disabilities, and will be used exclusively for costs which are not provided for by governmental funding. As of December 3, 2008, the event had grossed almost $107,000.

Kruk regaled the crowd with many funny anecdotes about his ten-year Major League Baseball career and personal recollections about former teammates Darren Daulton, Lenny Dykstra and Dave Hollins among others. John, a member of the 1993 Phillies’ National League Championship team, has remained a big supporter of the franchise despite needing to appear unbiased as an analyst for ESPN’s award-winning “Baseball Tonight.” Kruk also surprised the crowd announcing his intention to bring a baseball clinic for Little League players to the Lehigh Valley in the summer of 2009 with all of its proceeds benefiting LifePath.

Jack Morrone, LifePath Board of Directors’ secretary and father of two sons with developmental disabilities, provided a candid and heartfelt presentation about the importance of organizations like LifePath in caring for such a unique and vulnerable population.

LifePath presented its annual Outstanding Parents of the Year Award to Karen and Toby Bell of Orefield in recognition of their exceptional commitment to their family and to the mission of LifePath.

The Lehigh Valley Chapter of the PICPA presented its annual Lehigh Valley Community Service Award to ArtsQuest president, Jeffrey A. Parks. Please read his bio below.

We would like to thank all of our guests, vendors, donors and sponsors, especially presenting sponsor Tallman, Hudders & Sorrentino; Outstanding Parent Award sponsor PNC Bank; Reception Sponsor Kostas Kalogeropoulos and the Holiday Inn; and Platinum Sponsor Brown & Brown of the Lehigh Valley.
