Mother & Daughter Spend Part of Their Summer Volunteering in Day Program
While most families use their summer months planning vacations, swimming or picnicking, an Easton area mother and daughter are spending some of their time volunteering at LifePath’s Lehigh adult day program. Jen Hedrick and her daughter, Natalie bring their smiles and fitness training to the day program to help keep LifePath’s older consumers healthy and active. Consumers engage in light activities including stretching, using a hula hoop, playing with a ball and using a tennis racquet. The day programs receive two to three days of physical activity weekly thanks to the local YMCA and the Hedrick family. Physical activity is increasingly important for individuals with disabilities, as is the opportunity for being involved with members of the community.

Press Conference Publicly Acknowledges Cigars International’s Generosity to LifePath
LifePath held a press conference and small reception at its administrative headquarters in Bethlehem on July 14, 2009 to publicly acknowledge Cigars International’s support of the organization. Cigars International’s annual Cigar Fest May 2, 2009 raised a record $30,000 for LifePath. (Click here for full story) Since 2005, CI has donated more than $75,000 to the organization which has allowed LifePath to purchase needed equipment, adaptive technology and other items our resources might not have otherwise allowed us to obtain. Guests in attendance included members of CI’s and LifePath’s management teams, local media and LifePath board members. To see WFMZ Channel 69 News’ coverage of the event: Click here

Participation in Highmark Blue Shield's 2009 Annual "Walk for a Healthy Community" Raises $8600 for LifePath
LifePath was one of 17 Lehigh Valley area non-profits who participated in Highmark’s 5th annual Walk for a Healthy Community in Downtown Historic Bethlehem June 13, 2009. Since Highmark Blue Shield underwrites the cost of the walk, 100% of the money raised by walkers supports the participating groups who are each responsible for raising their own funds.
More than 100 walkers gathered under LifePath’s tent at Main and Lehigh Streets early that (DRY!) Saturday morning to support LifePath’s second year as beneficiaries of the event. Walkers were asked to gather pledges for LifePath to support their participation in the event. More than 200 generous donors helped LifePath to raise $8600 to support our programs and services for individuals with developmental disabilities! Thank you to Highmark Blue Shield, everyone who walked, donated, solicited pledges and volunteered their time to make our participation in this year’s walk another success.
