LifePath ACTION ALERT – Direct Dial Days – We Need Your Help!
If you care about mental retardation and autism funding in Pennsylvania, you NEED to act!
ACTION ALERT – Direct Dial Days
We Urge You to DIAL Again June 8, 9, and 10
There’s too much to lose!
Thank you for all of your calls this week to Senator Corman, Representative Dwight Evans and Governor Rendell to voice your opposition to cuts in funding for services to people with mental retardation and autism. We know we’re pushing you hard for a maximum number of calls. But it’s important and it works! Your calls ARE counted and they DO influence decision making.
We thought long and hard over who the government people should be who received your targeted advocacy. They were selected because of their direct influence on the budget.
Legislators must recognize the importance of funding for people with mental retardation, autism and physical disabilities or we will be shoved aside. We also must impress upon our officials that we are also feeling the pinch of a tight economy and there are thousands of jobs that could be lost if services are reduced or eliminated.
If you haven’t already contacted your local state legislator, please do so. You can go to http://www.legis.state.pa.us/, simply put in your zip code and your local legislators names will appear. If you haven’t tried it, please do. It is remarkably easy and your voice along with other voices are what it will take to save millions of dollars for your services.
Here’s the plan. Next week, we are going to flood the following offices with calls.
Monday, June 8:
Call Representative Mario Civera
He is a PA Representative
He is the Republican Appropriations Committee Chairman
His number is 1-717-787-3850
His email is: mcivera@pahousegop.com
Tuesday, June 9:
Call Senator Dominic Pileggi
He is a State Senator
He is the Majority Party’s (Republican’s) Floor Leader
His number is 1-717-787-4712 .
His email is: dpileggi@pasen.gov
Wednesday, June 10:
Call Steve Crawford
He is the Governor’s Chief of Staff
His number is: 717-787-2500
The message is simple:
Hello my name is __________________.
(Pick one)
- I am a person with mental retardation (or autism).
- I have a son/daughter with mental retardation (or autism).
- I work with people who have mental retardation (or autism).
- I am on the Board of an agency that supports people with mental retardation (or autism).
I support a budget that supports people with disabilities. I do NOT support SB 850.
Thank you for your help!
