Started
in 1974 by a group of concerned parents with special needs children,
Ridge Crest is a 33-bed sub-acute care facility located in Sellersville,
PA (Bucks County) for medically-fragile or technology-dependent
children who may or may not have a developmental disability diagnosis.
Ridge Crest serves children from throughout the Lehigh and Delaware
Valleys.
Ridge
Crest addresses children's medical needs while providing a loving
and nurturing environment. In addition to medical treatment, children
also experience a structured daily routine, complete with an educational
component, after-school activities, special services and outings.
Programs
and Services:
Transitional
Care
For children who plan on being cared for in the family home, but
who may still require some medical or nursing support to make that
possible. Highly trained staff provide education and support to
help families gain the skills they will need when loved ones return
home from medical settings.
Respite
Care
A vacation spot for special children between the ages of six months
to 21 years that need to be away from home. Visits range from days
to weeks or longer, if needed. Children bring all of their personal
items, equipment and medications with them and Ridge Crest provides
the rest in a fun, homelike environment.
Residential
Long-Term Care
Children live and thrive at the facility until they reach adulthood
or no longer require round the clock nursing care. The goal of the
program is to allow each child the opportunity to reach their fullest
potential physically, cognitively, emotionally, spiritually and
socially.
Summer
Camp
For nine weeks each summer, children with developmental disabilities
in need of medical care receive socialization and educational opportunities
that are truly once in a lifetime experiences. Activities include
trips to the zoo, overnight camping, a day at Sesame Place and swimming.
Camp is open to children in the community, not just residents of
Ridge Crest.
